Jurgis (George) Brakas is an Independent Scholar and Emeritus Professor of Philosophy. He began teaching at Marist College in 1990 but retired in the fall of 2013 to write full time. He received his A.B. in philosophy from Princeton University and his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in philosophy from Columbia University. His areas of specialization are Aristotle and  ancient Greek philosophy; Rand; logic and the philosophy of logic; and ethics and meta-ethics. He is currently working on a second book: Aristotle on the Good [the good in general, not just the human good].
